Is This adidas Futurecraft Shoe Meant For Outer Space?
The adidas Futurecraft, a sneaker that’s on the cutting edge of footwear design both in its aesthetic and materials, has received a spacy makeover courtesy of Amsterdam’s Studio Hagel and artist/designer Daniel Arsham. Studio Hagel stripped down one of Arsham’s collaborative Futurecraft 4Ds and re-made it into a moon boot-esque silhouette, turning the minimal shoe into a maximalist design that demands attention. The Futurecraft’s 3D-printed midsole and Primeknit toebox were removed from the heel and collar, then stitched together with the high-collared sockliner of an EQT BBall Boot to create a handmade, moon-landing ready piece of footwear. An abstract lacing system that swoops down to the midfoot and a strap on the upper provide finishing touches to the whimsical look. The hybrid silhouette appears to be a one-off project from Studio Hagel, but you can feast your eyes on the images of their creative process while assembling it below.
